Well I have decided to put myself out there as a ‘real’ photographer. I feel bizarre. Anyway if you would like to check out my new WEBSITE (oh man those things take AGES to put together, don’t they?!) I’m at kimclements.com.au. I’d love to hear your thoughts or experiences. I have just stepped out of my comfort zone!
I haven’t had much time for blogging lately. I have still been taking photos though. Obsessively educating myself on technique both in camera and in retouching. Experimenting on voluntarily adding grain (never thought I would hear myself say that) and enjoying underexposing. I love the grey effect.
I have been posting mainly to my facebook page recently. If you would like to see some of my recent images you can find them here at Kim Clements Photographer.
Here is one I took recently of building storm clouds over Waikerie, South Australia.
I had a few friends over last night to take photos to edit specifically for Halloween. The light was accidentally left on in the roof and the shadows came through the vent. It looked interesting so we took a few photos there. I thought this might make an interesting album cover after a crop. (The Halloween photos turned out well and will be making an appearance on Halloween!)
There are so many portraits. Its nice to have smiles, especially from children, but sometimes the unexpected moment that you may pass over might be the shot that means more to the parent. An expression that is uniquely familiar will be cherished because it can take them back to a moment that they may otherwise forget.
I love this shot because it is an expression that I see regularly. The questioning, inquisitive, what are you about to ask me Mum face. That and the connection to the camera makes me feel like I’m in the moment.
Now, if I can only capture that for my clients, I will be a happy woman.
