Super…little guy
This is out the front of our house. Its as close to the street as my son is allowed to go without supervision. Ever since I Photoshopped him in his cape into a cityscape he has been obsessed with me photographing him as a superhero. That is him being very serious about superheroing. Followed by him being very serious about preventing me photographing him at all by rolling around on the ground. Fortunately it only takes a fraction of a second to get him when he checked to see if I was still watching.
Weekly Photo Challenge: inside
Yesterday I photographed a friend of mine outside in natural light to practise posing. She was a bit uncomfortable at the close up, plain face shots. So it was inside last night on photoshop that some ‘magic’ happened and the background got a bit more ‘interesting’. I love the result and as someone with a budget of exactly ZERO for backdrops it is quite handy.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Threes
I am looking to explore portraits. I love finding people through the lens.
I haven’t had much time to post as we are all sick so I asked my son to stay still and used Instagram for a quick edit. You can find me on Instagram as Midsommereve.
Here are three expressions of E.

Weekly Photo Challenge: selfie
My header is a selfie. One of those creative self portraits we love where we don’t truly show ourselves. Why do we have such an aversion to our own image? The reality of how we look never matches the view we have of ourselves in our minds. The reality check is most often harsh. How many shots did you take for this challenge before you were happy with the result?
I am thinking of exploring portraits. I want to use posing to present the best version of a person to them self so that the reality more closely resembles their mind view. In light of the challenge I decided that I should start on myself. How can I expect others to get in front of my camera if I will not be photographed?
Here I am.
(You may notice I am not in focus. I had prefocused on the fence and didn’t bother redoing it. I am sitting on a reflector in front of my mother’s backyard fence. A ladder made a very nice tripod, which I had forgot to pack. It was my first attempt posing anyone! It took about 7 shots to get a pose I was relatively happy with.)
Weekly Photo Challenge: object
Weekly Photo Challenge: object
The effect created by the depth of field in this first photo is best seen enlarged.
This series of photographs focuses on the form of the shell distinct from its surroundings. The colours, brightness, level of grey tones and depth of field are all thought out and try to emphasise the character of the subject and contribute to the image. If I get time later in the week I might explore an object as instrumental in the telling of a story…if I get time.
