May Photo Challenge – 31. something beautiful

Farewell May Photo Challenge, it has been fun and EYE OPENING! I had hoped to find the most beautiful place on my drive to Murray Bridge today and photograph it. It is still in my mind this photograph, a small cottage in a rural gumtree setting with smoke coming from the chimney and hovering around the ground in black and white. I will find you one day and photograph you!!!

Anyway, I did see many beautiful things on my drive…but my baby was asleep in the back and sacrifices had to be made, namely that I couldnt stop or he would wake up. Oh dear.

I decided it would be OK because I was going to the Murray River which is beautiful and there would be plenty of photo opportunities. When I got to the river front my OTHER son fell asleep AND the riverfront was…um uninspiring. Perhaps there is an outstanding river front there somewhere, but it was NOT where I was.

So I took a photo of the bridge which I thought had interesting lines.

Then I decided to find a playground to have lunch in Mt Barker on the way home and I did think these leaves were quite beautiful so I took a couple of shots.

I was getting desperate by now and decided to stop into Hougton on the way home thinking it is one of the most beautiful little places I know (I have SEEN mist sit in that valley). I found an old windmill, but couldn’t get into the field to photograph it properly. I ended up with this

Interesting, not particularly even good photos! Then I tried this thinking that it was a lovely building and colours.

The last one I am sure I am supposed to hate the shadow in the foreground, but I don’t. I tried cropping it to get rid of it, but I don’t know, what can I say? I like it.

So, at the end of that I didn’t really feel like I had found anything especially beautiful and as the final in the May Photo series, I was disappointed. I didn’t really want to submit ANY of them as the thing I found to be beautiful.

Then, 1 hour ago, I found this in the bath.

Perfect.

May Photo Challenge – 30. my personality

I could have put a collection of things that I love or taken a photo of something that really pleases my eye, but I decided to think about the reality of me. I am a stay at home mum and the reality is that most days to others at least I and my life probably seem mundane. But this series of 2 photos is a comment that even personalities or things that seem mundane are complex, intricate and beautiful in their own way if you take the time to look closely. Go on, have a close look at the floor where you are standing.

But which number? that is the question. I didn’t have to make the decision. It was Kindergym morning so off I went following E. As it turned out he presented me with two opportunities to photograph numbers, so I have shared them both.

May Photo Challenge – 28. today’s weather

Unfortunately today’s weather couldn’t have been more uninteresting in ANY way! It was uniformly grey and cloudy, only the clouds weren’t interesting, there were no interesting shadows. It was cold, but not enough to be really cold, not warm enough for sun or any interesting comments on warmth. It didn’t rain and wasn’t windy. I was so uninspired I decided to ask my son to draw me a grey cloudy day. This is his impressionist view of today’s weather. (I like his version of grey haha)

What can I say? Yoda in a children’s ‘Super Hoot’ raincoat is unusual… and kinda creepy. I would love to know what was going on in the mind of the store person who decided to dress him that way.

I made this mask this morning to go with my son’s Super Giggle cape. Its not well made, but I love watching him adjust it on his face. For some reason it’s always wonky. Love it.

I don’t pretend to understand how technologies we use work. The way I live is dependent on them, but they are beyond my level of understanding, at least I have no interest in learning how it all works. They are quite beautiful if you look closely though, like a map of a miniature civilization.
