October Photo Challenge: 13. landscape

This is where I was today. We went for an excursion to Meningie at the mouth of the River Murray in South Australia. We decided to go for a drive to Murrang which is a tiny place (so small I couldn’t see the place), but it has a beautifully green camping ground right near the strangest ferry crossing. On the other side was a lighthouse.

We decided to cross and I laughed so hard that the ferry woman had obviously been posted to this ferry due to her terrible people skills. When we arrived she was on the phone and smoking a cigarette. She opened the gate to the ferry without lifting an eye, continuing her conversation and still smoking like a train. As we boarded the ferry we tried to make eye contact with her to give her a friendly wave (as we do anytime we cross on a ferry). She barely made eye contact and gave us a look that indicated that we were an interruption to her day. I was actually most impressed by her multi tasking skills. As we left she was still on the phone and hadn’t broken stride once. Perhaps you had to be there but that was the thing, in this place there was earily no people but us and the ferry lady with no people skills. Little wonder really.

We stopped so that E and R could run through the field of hay bales.

Although it was supposed to be for E’s benefit, I think R secretly did it more for him. He enjoyed it more.

The Way Home in Black and White

Yesterday we took in the beautiful rugged cliffs of Whalers Way on the Eyre Peninsula.

The boys loved the adventure.

This morning they said their goodbyes over breakfast and then we were off.

As we got to the ferry we unpacked the kids and then had to jump back in the car to drive aboard so W was smuggled on at my feet (he gets VERY unhappy at the buckling of seatbelts after being in the car for a long time). Anyway, I looked down at him and this is face that was looking back at me. Cheeky.

E and W enjoyed the freedom of moving around on the ferry.

And of course E found the ultimate play space… the Captain’s chair!

The ferry was pretty good.

A great end to a great holiday.

I am…planning another.

I am… enjoying the long weekend away

My husband is a teacher. This weekend he had to write school reports which is always very hard for him with two little people that want his attention more often than not. So I took them away to Waikerie in the Riverland. I couldn’t take many photos because my iPhone was going flat and I had forgot my charger, but today I knew I was coming home and only needed enough charge for an emergency call in case of disaster so I took a few before I left. I really noticed that some sort of zoom lense would have been useful, but I never get sick of the back of my son’s head and you don’t need to zoom on that, heheh.

I also put in another photo of W sitting. I had a closer look and I loved it.
